Dear Parents/Carers

As we approach the end of another busy fortnight, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the exciting things happening at our school.

First and foremost, I want to extend a warm welcome to all the new families who have joined our school community recently. We are delighted to have you as part of the St Mary's family, and we look forward to working together to ensure your children thrive in our nurturing environment.

Our pupils continue to impress us with their dedication and enthusiasm for learning. It has been a joy to witness their growth and achievements across various subjects and activities. Last week, our Year 5 visited Plumpton College as part of their DT work. They looked at dairy farm practises and then made their own lunches from home grown produce, yummy! Back in school, Year 3 took part in a Roman workshop; where they had the opportunity to learn about the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, look at various artefacts and re-enacted a Roman soldier march.

This week they showcased their knowledge and talents with their class assembly. Their acting, singing, and costumes were truly remarkable, and they did an excellent job of transporting us back in time to the era of the Roman Empire. Well done, Year 3!
Next week, our Year 6 students will be taking their SATs exams. We have the utmost confidence in their abilities, and we know they will shine. Let's rally behind them and wish them the very best of luck!

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with a new sports provider, Physical Sports Development, starting in September. They will be working with us two days a week, delivering high-quality PE lessons to every class and running lunchtime and after-school clubs. This collaboration will undoubtedly enhance our sports programme and provide our pupils with a diverse range of activities to explore their interests and talents.

Thank you to those who completed our recent parent survey, it has provided valuable insights, and we appreciate your honesty and candour. We are delighted to share that 97% of responses indicated that you would recommend our school to others, a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and the supportive environment we strive to create.

However, we acknowledge that there is always room for improvement, and we have taken your feedback to heart. We will be making changes to the survey itself to ensure more comprehensive responses, and we will work closely with our new sports provider to deliver a varied and engaging sports programme. Furthermore, in collaboration with our Confederation schools, including Woolmer Hill, we are planning inter-school competitive sports opportunities for the upcoming academic year.

Finally, I would like to remind you all about the upcoming Chiddfest on the 18th of May. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the talents of local students and musicians. Tickets are still available, so be sure to secure yours soon.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's educational journey. Together, we can create an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes
Mrs Buckley, Headteacher

MOBILE PHONES
We have noticed that there has been an increase in mobile phones being brought into school and handed into the school office. Please urge your child not to bring their phone into school unless it is absolutely necessary. Your cooperation is appreciated.

ICE PACKS
We appear to have lost a number of icepacks at school. If you any at home, please can these be returned to the school office.
Your cooperation is appreciated.
